Moving West

Just when we thought we couldn’t move any further west we recently decided to pack up our belongings and go from 50 miles from the Pacific to now 25 miles away.   Continue reading

Acts – The 3 Man Show

This past Saturday while Whitney was visiting friends, I found out about a local play called, Acts – The Three Man Show, and was able to attend it.  The writer, Bryce Lenon, has spent the past two years writing this play that goes through the book of Acts.  While this play is only half finished, what they have so far is already incredible and well worth attending.  I can’t tell you how amazing it was to experience such a dynamic and complex story portrayed by only 3 men.  These guys truly did an exceptional job and their passion for the story was evident throughout the show.   Continue reading

Me, Jason, and St. Barb :)

Jason and I were ushered into our 2nd year of marriage in the beautiful coastal town of Santa Barbara. We celebrated our first year of marriage in style with a surrey bike rental, a night at a bed and breakfast, a dutch town, biker bar and a year old cake.  Going to the town full of celebrity 2nd homes (and probably 3rd and 4th homes), we crammed a lot into 36 hours.  Here is a little taste of our trip… Continue reading

PC Running Slow? Try This.

A friend of mine in class was recently telling me how slow his computer was at home and how he probably needed a new one. I wrote down a few steps I remembered from a trick a buddy of mine showed me back in college and told him to try following them. Sure enough, the next day he said he and his wife couldn’t believe how fast it was now working. Anyways, I thought this might be worthy of passing along for many others that are in a similar situation. Continue reading

Pattern of Prayer

This was put together nicely in our last fundamental of the faith lesson. Jesus teaches us to pray in Matthew 6. What better model to follow! Check it out…

Pray to God……………………………Our Father who is in heaven
Exalt Him, saying………………….Hallowed be Your name
Submit to Him, praying………… Your will be done
Look to Him, seeking……………..Our daily bread
Confess to Him, pleading……….Forgive us our debts (sins)
Depend on Him, asking………….Do not lead us into temptation
Trust in Him, requesting………..Deliver us from evil

Fundamentals of the Faith

So Whitney and I are currently enrolled in a class at our church called Fundamentals of the Faith.  We enrolled in teacher training version of the class so we can then go on to lead/teach other classes together after we finish the one we are in.  We are only three chapters into the workbook and additional curriculum for this class but what we have been learning has been nothing short of incredible.  While the material we are learning is not necessarily anything new, neither of us have ever seen it organized so well and methodically put together.  It’s like we both had scattered puzzle pieces of information that were in small clumps put together and now we’re seeing an even more completed puzzle.  I am constantly amazed at how one can spend a lifetime studying the Bible and they will never exhaust the incredible truths and depths of God’s holy word.

What we both have come to really admire the most about this curriculum is the way it is completely centered on God’s Word.  Scripture is lined up and put together so that as you are reading through it for each corresponding topic, you naturally see the answers and themes leap out at you.  I can’t imagine how much more mature I would be in my faith if someone would have introduced me to this kind of a resource early in my Christian walk.   Continue reading

Not a prosperity gospel

Bloggers,

As Jason mentioned in the post below, we are incredibly blessed with a God whose timing is impeccable. We hope to live a life that shows without a doubt His hand in everything we do…including leaps of faith!

Psalm 37:4 was one of the verses from the OT that was laid upon my heart when I first became a Christian.

“Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Continue reading

Answered Prayer

A few days ago we received a letter from the state of California notifying Whitney that she passed her incredibly difficult state pharmacy test and will be receiving her license in only five business days.  This is no small deal.  Whitney has been studying for weeks for this test constantly reminded that a large portion of out of state pharmacists fail it their first time. Continue reading
